    At Waitr, we’re driving the future of on-demand food delivery. As the Director, Design, you’ll lead and grow a team of 6-10 people. You’ll work closely with our product management and software engineering teams to design and build applications for consumers, drivers, restaurants, and our internal teams, and with our marketing team to refine and execute our message across a variety of media channels.

    Essential Functions

    • Lead a team of designers and user experience researchers to drive consumers to our platform and improve the product experiences for all our users
    • Own the end-to-end design process of the team, ensuring on-time deliverables that meet or exceed expectations
    • Instill design thinking across the entire organization
    • Use data, market analysis, and customer research findings to drive design decisions
    • Work closely with business and technology teams to shape strategy, use cases, and overall vision
    • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver great user experiences in the face of technical constraints
    • Promote design best practices and successful design systems; ensure consistency with design standards for all our brands
    • Hire, manage, mentor, develop designers and researchers; inspire your team to deliver outstanding experiences, and empower them to lead design projects

    Required Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • 8+ years of experience as a UX designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar
    • 5+ years of successfully managing designers and user experience researchers
    • Experience with marketing/advertising environments, in addition to product-focused UX/UI work
    • A track record of solving difficult UX design problems and delivering intuitive interfaces
    • Experience closely collaborating with technical teams and ensuring designs work within their development libraries and frameworks
    • Familiarity with technical aspects of UX across iOS, Android, and other mobile platforms
    • Experience growing a design organization and developing design career paths for designers and researchers
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills including the ability to present design concepts clearly and persuasively to colleagues, partners, stakeholders and senior executives
    • Experience working with cross-functional, distributed teams using an iterative, feedback-driven methodology
    • Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate a bias for action in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment
    • Experience building high-quality consumer-facing applications, ideally in a multi-sided marketplace

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    This role reports to the VP of Product and will work closely with different functions inside the company, including product, engineering, operations, customer support, and marketing.
